When the alarm sounds

A pump chamber is the bit that lifts waste when gravity will not. If the high-level alarm is going, the pump is noisy, or the chamber is full, it needs someone who deals with tanks every day — not a general electrician guessing at floats.

We service chambers on septic tanks and treatment plants around York and the surrounding towns. That can be a planned visit or a same-day call when the alarm will not reset.

Typical reasons we get called

• High-level alarm, often at night after a lot of water has gone through the house.
• Pump running constantly, or not running at all.
• Chamber full of rag, wipes or silt after a long gap between empties.
• A plant that was installed years ago and has never had the chamber looked at.

Sometimes the honest answer is that the tank itself is due an empty, or the drain feeding the chamber is blocked — see unblocking. We would rather say that on the drive than sell you a pump you do not need.
