Home / Pump chamber servicing

Regular pump chamber servicing costs less than an emergency call-out

Planned visits for schools, campuses, retail parks and FM teams around York — so you are not always buying emergency time.

Chambers & package stations

Keep chambers clear before they fail

When a pump chamber or package pumping station is neglected, problems stack up: rags and debris bind the pumps, floats stick, alarms go ignored — then you get smell, overflow, flooded plant rooms, and a burnt-out pump. Jamie Wiggins at Tanks & Drains (Buttercrambe, YO41) helps schools, campuses, retail parks and facilities teams keep chambers clear and pumps working with planned visits — so you are not always buying emergency time.

Why chambers fail

  • Blocked or silted wet well
  • Debris / wipes fouling impellers
  • Failed or stuck level floats
  • Control panel / alarm faults left unresolved
  • Pump running dry or against a blockage → burn-out
  • Overflow, pollution risk, complaints about smell

Planned visits vs emergency call-outs

A planned service is budgetable: you put it in the estates diary, we turn up in working hours, and the chamber is emptied and checked before it becomes a crisis. An emergency is the opposite — out-of-hours disruption, smell complaints, flooded plant rooms, and a pump that may already be damaged. Regular servicing costs less than buying that call-out again and again.

What a typical visit can include

  • Safe access to the chamber
  • Empty and clean the chamber as required (tanker)
  • Check pumps, floats / levels, visible pipework and non-return arrangements
  • Note obvious control / alarm concerns for your electrician or the OEM
  • A plain-English report for the estates file

Who it is for

Schools and academy trusts · university / college estates · shopping parks · FM companies looking after multiple sites across York, North Yorkshire (including Thirsk and Northallerton) and the East Riding.

Domestic call-out

Homeowner with a high-level alarm going now, or a septic / treatment chamber that needs looking at? Same number. Sometimes the honest answer is that the tank itself is due an empty, or the drain feeding the chamber is blocked — see unblocking. We would rather say that on the drive than sell you a pump you do not need.

Alarm going now?
